
Yumeng Liu is a researcher focused on energy transition, climate policy, and wildlife conservation. She holds an MPP from UC San Diego and a Bachelor of Laws from Peking University. Yumeng has experience in environmental research, policy communication, and data analysis, having worked with the Power Transformation Lab, World Resources Institute, TRAFFIC, and Greenpeace. She is proficient in R, Python, QGIS, and fluent in Mandarin, English, and French.

Published a paper in the UCLA Pacific Basin Law Journal (Volume 41, Issue 2) exploring workforce reduction strategies during China's coal sector restructuring and the legal basis for various practices adopted by state-owned enterprises.
Hosted an episode of The Environment in Canada Podcast featuring Dr. Anabela Bonada from the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation. We discussed Canada's rising shoreline risks, flooding, and practical steps residents can take to stay safer in a changing climate.
Joined Sierra Club Canada Foundation as Policy Communications & Grants Coordinator on the Sierra Youth Executive Committee. Leading youth policy and research initiatives, coordinating grant applications and social media outreach. Initiated podcast episodes with peer organizations to highlight local climate adaptation and community action. Supporting connections among youth advocates across Canada by providing resources and coordination to strengthen national youth-led environmental initiatives.
